Fall time is my absolute favorite time of the year! This post is all about kid friendly fall activities, specifically for toddlers! Being a mom of 2 under 2, I have to be able to do these activities with a newborn by my side as well. Florida isn’t known for its fall weather, so I prefer to stay indoors. Fall Sensory Bin

This is all the rage recently in the parenting world (of toddlers especially). Sensory bins are a great fall activity for your toddler for many reasons. It’s so fun to customize and make seasonal sensory bins. It’s also great to have these sensory bins to help your toddler and child learn different things.

Items you’ll need or want:

  • Sensory table or sensory bins
  • Halloween themed toys
  • Fall themed items (leaves)

Halloween Themed Slime as a Fall Activity for Toddlers

Every kid that I’ve come across over the past several years have enjoyed slime. I remember when I went to the zoo for their Halloween special, there was a table to make slime. I think we made some with glue and added some fun little toy spiders and other little decorations. Here are some great links to create your own Halloween slime for your fall activity with your toddler.

Home-made Seasonal Foods & Treats

Who doesn’t love cooking or baking of some sort? I absolutely love looking at how creative people can be with their baking and cooking skills. The colors, decorations, and pretty cuts into doughs, breads, and pastries are my favorite! If you’re in the mood for a tasty treat, look up some Halloween inspired treats or look for fall and seasonal flavors. Pumpkin spice, chai, fragrant spices, and more can be used. Some ideas for baking can be pumpkin cupcakes with cream cheese frosting, a ginger carrot cake, yummy sugar cookies with fun sprinkles, or maybe home made apple cider. All of these can be made with your toddler.

Let your toddler help by mixing flours into the bowl. Have them help you crack an egg. Maybe you need to knead dough – they can even help with this. Decorating is also so fun for a toddler and can help with their developmental skills. Have them add sprinkles or top a cupcake with icing. Invite them to be a part of every aspect of your cooking or baking.

Movie Night: Halloween or Fall Themed

One of my fondest memories as a kid during fall or Halloween were all the movies we would watch. Getting in the Halloween spirit was so fun! I know, I know. You might be worried about screentime, but let’s be real. How many of us would watch tons of tv and movies as kids?? Have your toddler pick out some of their favorite movies. Or put some timeless movies on. Get some of the kids favorite treats and snacks. Grab some blankets. Set up the room with dim lighting and ENJOY!

Here are some of my favorites:

  • Halloweentown
  • Monster House
  • Coraline
  • Hocus Pocus
  • Disney’s Haunted Mansion
  • Casper

Outdoor Fall Activities for Toddlers

Sometimes you just want to get out of the house. You and your toddler get cabin fever. The changing fall weather is the perfect time to take your little one out. Here are some family friendly options to enjoy during the fall season.

Zoo Outing

Going to the Zoo might require a little more organizing on your part. I would suggest checking the hours, since the seasonal activities can change operating hours of places. A lot of zoos have fun seasonal activities for your toddler. Not only will your child enjoy being around other people and animals, but if you go to the activities, they will be able to experience something a little different than they usually do! Sometimes they have Halloween night, so check your local zoos website for these fun exclusive outings! Use this opportunity to take pictures to remember this fun time with your toddler or kids.

Picnic Under the Changing Trees

This one is great for a family day out. Not only can you take amazing pictures for memories, but you can enjoy the beautiful weather outside. Fresh air is so great for the kids and for your mental health. What a great place to spend time with your loved ones and favorite people!

Some things that you can consider bringing in your picnic basket:

  • Fruits – freshly cut seasonal fruits. Bring whatever kind you like!
  • Cheese – any type that you prefer
  • Crackers – I love the extra buttery kind
  • Sandwiches – Maybe you need something a little heavier than cheese and crackers, like myself. I love a dressed up ham, cheese, and turkey sandwich.
  • Utensils, Napkins, and Plates
  • Drinks – family friendly drinks, ofcourse
  • Sweets – make something yummy or go to your local bakery and pickup something

DIY Ghost Sheet Photoshoot

This trend was popular a few years ago. I think we all have known that one person who dressed up as a ghost for Halloween. It’s usually a last minute costume idea. This was true in my case. It was the absolute worst costume I had ever chosen. Why did I ever think that was cool? But this photoshoot is way more trendy and fun.

Items you’ll want or need:

  • Bed Sheets: You can get these from old and used bed sheets. Check out your local thrift store or a garage sale for cheaper options. Get some fun bed sheets for a fun and colorful photoshoot
  • Scissors: You can cut out holes for the eyes like we used to do for Halloween costumes.
  • Glasses: If you don’t want to make holes in the bed sheets, try using sun glasses to put on top to act as the eyes
  • Accessories: Add on some fun accessories like hats and sunglasses (listed above). Get creative!

All you have to do is figure out a location. This could be in your house with some fall and vintage decor. Maybe you want to go to a park with the changing leaves of the trees. A giant field can also be fun. If you have little kids, maybe a two in one trip to the park or playground can work too! Make sure that wherever you go, you are familiar with the area!
